The main objective of this Class is to prepare inexperienced drivers with the knowledge and confidence to safely operate a motor vehicle and help them obtain a Tennessee Driver’s License. These goals will be met by using the AAA How to Drive Workbook, along with the AAA Driver Improvement videos and workbooks. This class will also use the State of Tennessee’s Drivers Manual. Lessons on the effects of drugs and alcohol will include the Drunk Busters Vision Impairment Googles along with field sobriety tests and on occasion guest speakers from the DUI Unit of the Chattanooga Police and Victims of Drunk Driving accidents.
Day 1
1 – Knowing Your Vehicle
2- Vehicle Space Needs, Natural Laws, and Traction
3- Starting Steering and Stopping
4- Roadway signs, Road markings, don’t always trust the GPS
Communicating with other Drivers
5- Traffic Laws and Rules of the Road followed by a quiz
Day 2
1. Brief Review of Yesterday’s Lesson
2. Vision and Perception with Quiz
3. Time and Space
4. Changing Lanes, Proper Turns, and Parking
5. Sharing the Road with Other Cars, Bikes and
Pedestrians
6. Intersections, Roundabouts, and Freeway Driving
Day 3
1. Quiz over days 1 and 2
2. Alcohol and Driving, The Dangers of DUI
3. Drug Impaired Driving
4. Drunk Busters Googles and Practical Exercises
5. Distracted Driving, Don’t Text and Drive
6. Drowsy Driving
7. Emotions behind the Wheel, Road Rage
